Frequently asked questions.
Is Sapling an organic fertilizer?
No. We use organic raw material as the carrier, the part that holds the pellet together, but the fertilizer itself is conventional NPK. Sapling is carbon-enriched, not organic. You get the same nutrient strength as any commercial product, delivered on a carrier that builds soil.
Can I use Sapling alongside my existing fertilizer program?
Yes. TerraRescue is made for exactly that. It works as a soil conditioner alongside your current NPK program, improving nutrient efficiency without requiring you to change anything else. Terra Hybrids replace your conventional NPK product entirely if you want to go further.
What is a carbon carrier and why does it matter?
Chemical nutrients are too concentrated to spread on their own. For a blend to work out to the exact ratio a program calls for, every fertilizer needs a carrier alongside the nutrient compounds. Most conventional fertilizers use inert filler (sand, clay, limestone). Sapling uses a high-carbon organic carrier. What that carrier is made of determines whether your fertilizer feeds only the plant or also feeds the soil.
Is Sapling slower-release than conventional NPK?
Yes. The organic carrier holds nutrients in the root zone instead of letting them leach through the soil profile or volatilise into the atmosphere. More than half of applied nutrients are typically lost or locked up in the soil. Slower release on Sapling's carrier means more of what you apply reaches the crop.
What crops is Sapling used on?
Sapling products are used by farmers on most major South African crops, including maize, wheat, potatoes, macadamias, citrus, and sugar cane. Results vary by crop and conditions, but the consistent experience is improved nutrient efficiency and soil health alongside improved yields. Tell us about your crop and we'll point you to the right product.
